Humble Beginnings and Education

Born and raised in Iloilo to an entrepreneurial family, Bella’s passion for fashion blossomed early. While studying at Assumption Iloilo, she discovered her talent for design, winning “Best Costume” for four consecutive years in school plays. This passion continued at De La Salle College of St. Benilde, where she pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design and Merchandising. A Dean’s Lister, Bella’s college years marked the start of her rise, with her designs gaining early recognition—one of her creations for Maymay Entrata went viral, propelling her into the spotlight.

The Rise of Bella Borromeo

Bella’s career officially took off during the pandemic, as her work was featured in Bride and Breakfast, a premier bridal blog, cementing her place in the industry. Despite starting her atelier in a small condo in 2018, her talent quickly garnered attention from top publications like Vogue Philippines, METRO Magazine, and MEGA Magazine. She has also been invited to grace the prestigious Paris, Milan, Cannes, and New York Fashion Week events aside from several international expos to represent the Philippines. To further cement her status, she was also invited to visit The Malacañang for her contributions to Filipino design. Her first fashion show was at the Entwine Bridal Fair, where her creations captivated audiences and further solidified her status as a premier bridal designer.

Bella Borromeo’s exquisite designs have captured the hearts of numerous A-list clients, cementing her reputation as a sought-after designer among the elite. Her creations have been worn by Shamcey Supsup, Michelle Gumabao (for her prenuptial dress), Sunshine Cruz and her daughters Angelina and Sam Cruz, Julia Barretto, Nikki Valdez (for her wedding day), Jodi Sta. Maria, Barbie Imperial, and Coleen Garcia, whose stunning Ibong Adarna-inspired gown was featured in the Philippine Daily Inquirer. Loyal clients like Bella Racelis regularly don her designs, while sisters Yassi and Issa Pressman frequently showcase her creations. Bella also dressed Alexa Ilacad, whose viral butterfly gown for the MEGA Ball was a standout, alongside other celebrated personalities like Alexa Miro, Max Collins, and Alodia Gosengfiao. Her designs have graced the red carpets of the ABS-CBN Star Magic Balls, GMA Gala Nights, Tatler Balls, and PeopleAsia Balls, as well as countless weddings and elite gatherings, solidifying her place among the top Filipino designers.

Deeply rooted in her Ilonggo heritage, Bella launched KANAMI, a subbrand aimed at celebrating and sharing Ilonggo culture through fashion. This initiative highlights her commitment to representing her roots while crafting designs that transcend borders.
